Leader of “Democratic Way” Party (DWP) Manuk Gasparyan who has declared that he was backing Levon Ter-Petrosyan in the upcoming presidential elections, has a lot of reasons for making that decision. Though he also has criticized the RA First President in time, but he thinks that each person may make mistakes. “Mistakes may be fatal, lack of experience or made on purpose”,- Manuk Gasparyan said speaking about Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s 7-8 years of ruling. In his opinion Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s “great and serious mistake was that he, as the general commander of the army liberated the corridor of Lachin and brought Kocharyan from Karabagh through that road to Yerevan and assigned him as the Prime Minister in 1997. Today Kocharyan gives interviews in the press saying that the former authorities were criminals, that ANM (HHSh) was robbing, and Ter-Petrosyan was going to sell Karabagh. When you came to Armenia in 1997 and if it was a criminal authority, why did you came and hold the post of prime minister,”- DWP leader asked the current President. When we reminded that Samvel Babayan has given recently that kind of explanation as if he came to Armenia to secure Karabagh rear , Manuk Gasparyan said with anger: “What did he mean by saying secure NK rear. T secure from Armenians? Samvel Babayan made a serious mistake saying that but if he meant other thing let him explain what he meant in reality.
“I, together with my party have decided to support Levon Ter-Petrosyan because Kocharyan holding the post of the president for 10 years, intends to become the first figure of the country for the third time”,- M. Gasparyan explains.
Speaking about the accusations against the former authorities, M Gasparyan is ready to oppose Kocharyan, accusing him of the same crimes. He also stressed that people with their votes and not the current authority should vote the future president.”
“I was surprised at Kocharyan’s low intellect. He speaks of privatization which was made during the former authorities. Let me remind that all political forces of the RA Supreme Council with their members were participating in the process of privatization. Not Ter-Petrosyan but the government and those parliamentary forces were achieving the privatization. But now Kocharyan himself solve any issue regarding the privatization. If he didn’t have a low intellect he wouldn’t say that the ANM had robbed and as if most of them would be in prison if he wanted. It means that he knew that a crime had been committed but hadn’t done anything to detect the crimes.
The pre-electoral campaign will launch, and I myself will present our public what Kocharyan with his band has robbed. It is more by 70% than it was during the former authorities. We should support Levon Ter-Petrosyan, and if he had made mistakes till 98, we should ask him to rectify his mistakes, in particular send Kocharyan to his homeland to construct it”,- Manuk Gasparyan concluded
