“I WANT TO LEAVE FREE AND INDEPENDENT… AND IN ARMENIA”

  The young participants of the first demonstration after March 1 say.

First licensed mass meeting was held Kid’s Garden after Kirov on Saturday. “Women for Peace” NGO had received the allowance to hold the mass meeting. The authorities allowed the women to propagandize peace only two hours. The mass meeting crowded enough, approximately 10.000-12.000 people were gathered. Aram Sargsyan, Levon Zurabyan, Suren Surenyants, Lyudmila Ter-Petrosyan, New Times, People’s Way and other party representatives, Arshaluys Bozinyan from Vanatur and the wives of political prisoners were participating in the mass meeting. Stepan Demirchyan joined them later. The gathered people were crying  the famous mottos: “Struggle, struggle till the end”, “Free, Independent Armenia”, “Independence”,
“Now” and other slogans holding the flag of Armenia and jailed political prisoners’  photos.  Student from European Regional Academy Levon Zohrabyan said in the interview to “Aravot”. “We have gathered here because we want to live here free, independent and in Armenia, that’s why we back Levon Ter-Petrosyan”. Suren Surenyants said in the interview to us that he has problems with his kidneys after the hunger strike and exert an influence on his eyes. He conveyed the political prisoners’ greetings and said that he was glad to see so many decisive citizens.”

New Party member Hrachya Sargsyan was conducting the mass meeting. Summarizing the past events H. Sargsyan noticed that “all those actions can not weaken the existed situation. The ice has been broken.

Alexander Arzumanyan’s wife Melisa Brown described the day of political prisoners’ wives. Arshak Banuchyan’s wife said that she was proud of her husband since he is a political prisoner. Nikol Pashinyan’s wife called to continue the struggle.

The electricity was switched off during Suren Surenyants speech, and the organizers switched on a generator themselves, people were crying during that time, “Levon”, “Independence”, “SErzhik leave”. When the organizers of demonstration tried to use their lost 20 minutes, the policemen didn’t allow them. The gathered people  moved to the North Avenue to continue their protest but when the policemen occupied the territory and warned Gayane Martirosyan, the chairman of “Women for Peace” NGO that they will use violence and she will be responsible for everything, gathered people left.
