MASS MEETING IN THE HALL

The atmosphere of the Second Congress of the People’s Movement was like this.

The entrance to the hall of the Government’s sitting was crowded one hour before the Congress launched. The corridors of the hall were also full of people who were following the events in the hall through monitors placed there.

It is impossible to speak about the whole speeches, so we will represent more interesting ones.

 Levon Zurabyan noted that thousands of arrests, violence weren’t able to break the will of the Movement and prevent it: This People’s Movement, which unites 23 political parties and several thousands, public organizations, is unprecedented.”

PPA Leader Stepan Demirchyan noted that the demands of the People’s Movement are equal to the PACE commitments required by 1609 resolution. “Let’s not forget that CE demands to allocate frequency to “A1+”, call to responsibility those who made frauds during the presidential elections in 2003”. Stepan Demirchyan thinks that the authorities should realize that “it impossible to overcome the current crisis by cosmetic changes or imitations. We need in radical changes. The crisis should be overcome by holding free and fair elections.”

 “Alternative” Member Norayr Norikyan declared in his speech that the regime formed a despotic state in our country by robbing and plundering   and “considered our country as a place where they can be engaged in elite constructions and make the state a robber den”. Our struggle aims to prevent this, and I am sure what we didn’t manage to do yesterday, we will do today or tomorrow.” The hall crowded: “Now”. Norik Norikyan also noted: “The last two months proved that this struggle was not for Levon Ter-Petrosyan. Levon Ter-Petrosyan struggled with his friends in 1988 band won. This is the struggle of our society.”

Publicist Tigran Paskevichyan noted in his speech: “ A lot of people think that there are two opposite forces in Armenia. But it is not so. The People’s Movement has no adversaries, since adversary means alternative human way of thinking, alternative human morality, and alternative human behavior. And the dialogue we speak about so much, and which will not be made, since there is no other system of values which opposes to the Movement but the despotic power.” Speaking about the future of activities of the Movement Tigran Pasekvichyan said: “What do you think whether a person, people, a lot of people who have overcome the fear, tasted the freedom, almost achieved the victory can tolerate 5 or 10 more years what they tolerated during the last decade?” The answer from the hall was “No”.

In Hmayak Hovhannisyan’s opinion the parallel between “October 27” and March 1 is quite proper. In both cases Armenia was shot, it was shot to disappoint and obey people.

Leader of Marxist Party Davit Hakobyan proposed as a solution of the current crisis to liquidate the “criminal, infantile” parliament and hold NA special election. The main battle should be given here.

Producer Tigran Khzmalyan who declared that he had not voted for Tigran Khzmalyan but condemned the current violence: “The young Armenia was born on March 1 which is not afraid of violence and will not tolerate it.” Tigran Khzmalyan, as a solution proposed to liquidate the National assembly of mice” and elect a new parliament.

Manushak Petrosyan read a letter which was sent to the congress, and the author was asking how long the Karabagh special units should beat the people which struggled in favor of Karabagh independence.

 “New Times” Party Leader Hrachya Sargsyan read Aram Karapetyan’s message addressed to the RA citizens, where it is said: “The regime is loosing both politically and morally. And it became a reality because you did not afraid, weren’t disappointed”. In Aram Karapetyan’s opinion the struggle should be continued.

In answer to Levon Zurabyan’s gratitude to the “Heritage” Party,  parliamentarian Vardan Khachatryan said that there is no need to thank, they couldn’t be anywhere else than backing the people.

“Republic“  Party Leader Aram Sargsyan made the last meeting. He spoke about two opposing Armenias. One of them is Armenia of the authorities and their servants. The other Armenia belongs to the people, now dear officials let’s have a dialogue, which one from these Armenias is the minority. Which one is more capable to form the third Armenia?”
