BAKU VERSION

June 14,2008 00:00

Representative of the Center of the People’s Movement Levon Zurabyan thinks that the authorities move in this way.

Serge Sargsyan was declaring before holding the highest post of the president that he was ready to have a dialogue even with those who are “blind by hatred”. It seems he continues Robert Kocharyan’s way of activities. Do you see logic here?

They both are the representatives of the same regime, the regime which was found in 1998 in Armenia.

So, Serge Sargsyan was not sincere enough in declaring about his readiness.

He was not sincere and it was obvious just from the beginning. When he made that declaration on February 26, he should send an official delegate to negotiate with us. But he didn’t do that. He simply made a declaration which is groundless.  Dialogue is simply a word. Neither R. Kocharian nor Serge Sargsyan made a proposal for a dialogue. If they have made let them say when they made it?

The new wave of repressions against the oppositionists is considered as a challenge towards Europe. May we consider that the authorities have chosen the alternative for Europe, about which Robert Kocharyan said but did not explain?

We will summarize Serge Sargsyan’s selected way on June 20. The steps he has taken before are not enough for radical changes. They are still political prisoners in the jails while 1609 resolution demands to set all political prisoners free.

Mr. Zurabyan, the Center of Movement turned to the Municipality again to hold a mass meeting in the Freedom Square or near Matenadaran on June 20. Why near Matenadaran?

We see that the authorities avoid of holding  mass meeting in the Freedom Square. The defend it as if it is a war for Stalingrad. We are ready to act with the authorities who have complexes.

There is a message posted in the official site of the Municipality where it is proposed to hold the mass meeting in “Hrazdan” stadium. Which is your opinion?

Unfortunately I should note that the authorities act in Baku version. I have met famous British political analyst Thomas De Vaal lately. He asked me what kind of hopes we cherish regarding the mass meetings if the authorities act in the same way, like the Azeri authorities which offered the opposition places out of the city center. I thought myself that our authorities won’t be so bad but I was not right.

You had an optimisti9c mood several days ago, what about now?

Their refusal showed that they are not ready for compromise. Anyway I hope that the chance we have given them, they will use it.

          To allow the mass meeting?

          Yes, I don’t exclude.
