The aimless rallies disappoint

Yesterday the leader of the ARF faction Vahan Hovhannisyan in the interview reflecting on the out-of-parliament opposition rallies said, “I know that the pointless rallies disappoint people. Remember how many such rallies took place, huge rallies, bigger than now. Remember Arkadi Vardanyan, remember the PPA (the People’s Party of Armenia) rallies, Ashot Manucharyan or Mr. Geghamyan’s rallies. They were quite big rallies and they did not produce results. People who organize such big rallies should exactly clarify the aim, because when the people cannot see the resolution of their issues through the rallies they get disappointed with the political processes as a whole, they are disappointed with the fruitfulness of the protest, of the struggle. And that kind of disappointed people are a perfect victim for all kinds of violations and infringements during the elections.  Since the people who are disappointed with the struggle for their rights are a good material for the electoral bribery, for sitting careless at home, for being suppressed with different kinds of administrational leverage.”
