Yesterday while speaking to the journalists in the RA parliament, the speaker of the RA National Assembly, Hovik Abrahamyan reflected on the forcible ban on putting up an umbrella for covering being on a hunger strike Heritage party leader and an MP Raffi Hovannisian and assessed the police actions as, in principle, lawful stating, “In any case I am convinced that the police acts according to the law and it has to enforce the law.” Yesterday regarding to the same occurrence the HR newly appointed Defender of the RA Karen Andreasyan made a statement, which says, “The ban to put up a tent or an umbrella during the hunger strike of the citizen of the RA, Raffi Hovannisian I assess as a human rights violation and the actions of the RA police as unlawful. I state that putting up a tent by a person, as an action accompanying a non-massive public event cannot be assessed by itself as a public order offence. I call on the police of the RA to allow putting up a tent or an umbrella.”
