Tamamyan was arrested and taken to “the KGB basement”

  Yesterday the court of the first instance of Kentron and Nork-Marash districts presided by the judge Mkhitar Papoyan during a close session made a decision of arresting the ex-Head of the Main Department of Criminal Investigations of the RA Police, major-general of the police Hovhannes Tamamyan for two months. After announcing the decision, the officers of the NSD (National Security Department) transferred him to Yerevan Kentron pre-trial prison. The Special Investigation Agency turned to the court with mediation. I must remind that H.Tamamyan and already the ex-head of the Arabkir department of the police Varazdat Adamyan were let go by the Chief of Police of the RA Alik Sargsyan through the mediation of the Chief Prosecutor of the RA Aghvan Vardanyan with an explanation of “aimlessness of further holding the office”. Hovhannes Tamamyan is charged with the crime mentioned in the second part of Article 308 of the Criminal Code of the RA (abuse of one’s office that had a serious impact). I am talking about the case of murder on Komitas street in Yerevan.
