Citing 1news.az website, tert.am informs of an interview given to Azerbaijani journalists by Elmar Mamedarov in Washington where he stated, “The NK conflict settlement process has become more active, and intensive work is currently being done in order to reach agreement on basic principles. However, agreeing on the basic principles does not mean gaining a peace agreement. If the basic principles are accepted, then the works on the agreement should end within 6-12 months”, said Mamedyarov. The minister of foreign affairs added that the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s position was that the works on the basic agreements presented by the PACE Minsk Group should end and the work on the peace agreement should start as soon as possible, “I totally agree with that. The principles according to which we will move on are already known. Let us call it “Road Map”. The works on peace agreement should start as soon as possible.”
