Social-Democratic Hnchakyans welcome the demarche of the ARF West America and pity that the overall Hnchakyan center has not yet “opened its eyes”. “It’s a pity, when there is no consent inside a traditional party, but everything has its reasons and grounds. Traditional parties have their specificities and, since they are presented in many countries, the outside structures are very often not informed what really goes on in Armenia, what political interests their peer structures have and whether they serve the goal, for which the party was established”, yesterday referring to the well-known statement of the ARF West American Central Committee, in which quite strong assessments were made about Serzh Sargsyan’s presidency, said leader of one of another traditional party, SDHP (Social Democratic (Hnchakyan) Party), Lyudmila Sargsyan. Let us remind that quite recently the Hnchakyans also suffered an internal party crisis themselves, as a result of which a party was added to the list of the Armenian and Hnchakyan parties, and the intrigues of another traditional party, ADLA (Democratic Liberal Party of Armenia) started a new circle. According to Mrs. Sargsyan, the statement of the ARF West American Central Committee and the silence or lukewarm responses of the Dashnaks of Armenia that followed testify once again to the fact that the Dashnaks of West America aim at one thing and the Dashnaks of Armenia at another.
“If the Hnchakyan structure in Armenia stands right by the people with its direct national goals to carry out reforms in the country, then the ARF structure in Armenia has always cooperated or has been in the government, imitating an opposition. The Dashnaks of Armenia have businesses, personal interests, beyond the real interests of the ARF. Meanwhile, being Armenocentric, the Dashnaks had big opportunities to really serve the nation, to give an opportunity to the party to expand and to advance in the national interest; however, they used another opportunity to get rich, serving some little princes. The West American structure has realized that”, says Mrs. Sargsyan, welcoming such demarche and mentioning that it could have been and should have been earlier, immediately after the 2008 presidential election, “But probably they needed some time to realize what the people who have seized the power really aim at and what role Dashnaktsutyun plays in those aims.” Our interlocutor also added, I would certainly be happy if that statement was made by the Overall Hnchakyan Central Board, but as the ARF structure of Armenia, some representatives of the Overall Hnchakyan Central Board are guided by their small personal interests, discarding the party and national interests. Anyway, we can preserve the image of our party and fulfill the aims of the party.”
The SDHP leader smells a breaking up from these “Dashnak games” and thinks that all this will be a serious blow to that party, “The Dashnak Bureau functioning in Armenia has compromised itself and even the Diaspora has realized that. They started to see the obvious truth after three years. The Dashnaks of Armenia do not want to see that, because it is not in their interest. Now, there is an issue of preserving the image of the party and the Diaspora will try to cleanse itself of the structure in Armenia and voice publicly that their aims are national. Not accepting that feast, they explicitly say this is a government of national traitors, with which we don’t want to have anything to do. I welcome this process of recovery inside Dashnaktsutyun.”
Lyudmila Sargsyan does not agree that notwithstanding anything Dashnaktsutyun has had its constant electorate in Armenia and in response to “Aravot’s” question, what impact this event and its future possible developments will have on the upcoming parliamentary election and on the history of that party, said, “The government preferred to have an “opposition” represented by Dashnaktsutyun. I do not agree to the idea that Dashnaktsutyun got ten percent of the votes, as well as the Rule of Law Party. I am convinced that they have no chance to appear in the parliament after the upcoming parliamentary election.” Lyudmila Sargsyan is sure that in one or another way the upcoming election will be pre-term, it is only desirable that it is a presidential one.
