Heritage Party founder and leader Raffi Hovhanissian visited the Freedom Square yesterday. First he spoke with the citizens that have been on a 24-hour rally for five days already, then he approached Levon Ter-Petrossian, the ANC leader and the first president of Armenia. They talked in private for almost 15 minutes. Hovhanissian called his move a “polite” one and, responding to the question of Radio Liberty about the purpose of his visit, he said, “This square belongs to every one of us. When I was on a hunger strike here for 15 days, it was not my square, it belonged to everyone. That’s why I came here to speak with my compatriots and support them.” We would like to remind you that when R. Hovhanissian was on a hunger strike in the Freedom Square, ANC leader, holding a rally in the square, did not approach Hovhanissian to support him.
