Washington called for releasing Tymoshenko

The international community is worried with the verdict brought in against former Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko. The decision made by the Pechersky district court is condemned by both the EU and the US. According to aysor.am, the White House called for Kiev to release Yulia Tymoshenko, and not only her, but also “all politicians and former officials”. Washington thinks that “they should be able to freely participate in country‘s political life, particularly in the elections.” The position of the US on this issue is in line with the notion of the EU that stated in advance that “the gas issue” may be an obstacle in Kiev’s way to finally become a member of the EU.
