Trchunich will support Tsarukyan

October 19,2011 00:00

He is disappointed with the ambitions of former party-mates

“I am with those who are guided by wishes of serving the people, diminishing their cares and remaining a human to the end”, said Communist Khoren Sargsyan, the former MP who is going to run for MP during the upcoming parliamentary election through plurality-voting system, speaking of the upcoming parliamentary election during a conversation with “Aravot”. His notions more fit in with the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) approach, “I am with those who will consistently continue strengthening the traditional Armenian-Russian friendly ties, certainly not disregarding the peoples of the former republics, to the closest ties with which Armenia owes astonishing level of her development and prosperity.” His letter addressed to the PAP leader is rich in assessments, labeling the latter “a politician, state, social, party, as well as national figure”. Communist Khoren Sargsyan particularly likes Tsarukyan’s consistency, “Thanks to his efforts the sportsmen of our country that has modest abilities were able to reach unprecedented achievements. Some famous sportsmen in the past didn’t even return from international tournaments, reckoning that their future achievements would be impossible in their motherland. Today the picture is quite different and all of us are proud of the sportsmen representing our country, among whom champions of the world and challengers are not few.” My interlocutor explained his decision also with the following, “The listeners believe him and I am just one of those believers and I think it is my duty to support the Prosperous Armenia political force with my modest skills and abilities.” In response to a question, why he didn’t try to realize his political approach and ideas with his former party-mates, Trchunich said that he tried as hard he could and did whatever possible to have the communist parties united, however “that unity doesn’t take place; nobody wants to put aside his ambitions.” In a nutshell, Charents’s ballad of our times, “One man referred to another, they said no, therefore the man referred to Lenin.”
We inquired whether from his selection perspective Khoren Sargsyan was uncomfortable, because the second president of Armenia had explicit intentions to return to high politics and challenging the first and second presidents of Armenia, and as we all know, PAP is a political force created by Kocharyan. “People are omniscient, let us follow their wisdom; if one doesn’t discredit himself, nobody can. The people don’t only vote, but also discredit”, said my interlocutor significantly.
By the way, in the meantime Khoren Trchunich continued his visits to the regions. His impression is that the people are worried about the security of the country and are happy that “the authority deepened relations with Russia and the great Russian people, aiming at restoring the former brotherhood.” Trchunich is pleased on his own and his supporters’ behalf that “the soldiers of great Russia’s frontier regiment also took part in the military parade dedicated to the twentieth anniversary of Armenia’s independence, showing those necessary that nothing threatens the security of the Armenian people.” Furthermore, he calls opposing the participation of the Russian regiment “rooster’s behavior”.
