One should be either stupid or a masochist

According to Movses Shahverdyan, only in this case, the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) can win the majority

The Armenian Labor Socialist Party (ALSP) have conducted a research in the legal and social fields recently and concluded that the enforcement of a set of laws adopted by the government in recent years has had a disastrous impact on our people. The party research focused on the traffic police, the situation created in the field of taxi service and the Judicial Acts Compulsory Enforcement Service (JACES). “In this chain a situation is created that is just a bacchanalia. Let’s say there are such drawbacks in the Armenian Administrative Code that if one allows himself a minor infringement because of carelessness or just lack of legal knowledge, it may become a disaster for him in the future. Let’s say one ensured his car and hasn’t managed to replace the old coupon with the newer one; the police can make him pay 150000-dram fine for that negligence. And if he doesn’t pay within a month, it grows thrice bigger, in the case of not paying within three months, it grows five times bigger. Under the conditions of the nowadays Armenia, when the minimum wage is 33000 drams, imagine what such a big fine means, let alone for carelessness. Given the social conditions of Armenia, it is an absurd and adopting such laws is a crime against the nation and state”, says ALSP leader Movses Shahverdyan. According to my interlocutor, such “small things” prompt people to rise against the state and eventually leave this country and this reality. My interlocutor makes the following example from the research conducted at taxi services, “It is not a secret that the people working at taxi services earn only their daily bread. It is logical to assume that the insurance and checkup of the car is the taxi service director’s responsibility. However, directors of services make the people drive the car, even if it hasn’t passed the checkup, promising ‘to take care of the police’. There are cases, when people worked like that, for which they got a 50000-dram ticket, and then left the ticket at the taxi service and quit the job. A few months later the man got a writ of replevin, reading that the service hadn’t paid the ticket and he was obliged to pay 250000 drams, otherwise JACES would interfere in the case.” The ones responsible for this upside-down and negligent situation are, according to Mr. Shahverdyan, the present government and RPA, since it is actually the ruling party. “RPA have already stated that they pretend to become the majority in the short run. It mustn’t be allowed; RPA is the ruling force now and such a situation has been created because of the Cabinet headed by the Prime-Minister, a member of RPA, therefore our people should be either absolutely stupid, or masochists to allow putting themselves in such position also in the future.” By the way, according to Movses Shahverdyan’s analyses, the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) will be a serious alternative to RPA during the upcoming election, “It would be quite a rational decision, if PAP ran for the election separately, in that case, PAP would be compelled to add political and ideological components to their activities. If so, ALSP are ready to support and advocate their programs.” As to the presidential election, ALSP do not want to confine themselves to any candidate yet.
