It was said much about October 27. It was said at the level of senses and suggestions. From the legal and political perspective, there are probably some things left to say. However, these two areas, as it is usually the case, disturb each other; do not allow reconstructing the whole scene of the terrorist act. It is obvious that it was actually a coup, by which the leaders having real power were destroyed and the president having a status of the English queen before took the power. However, seeking for the only motif of the terrorist act in the internal life is, in my opinion, not right – it was said lots of times that the quite disadvantageous (I would even say the most disadvantageous) version of the Karabakh conflict settlement was on the table that was prevented by the death of the “Unity” leaders. The rest was absolutely imaginary. They say that the above-mentioned leaders must have led our country to progress or they were going to seriously fight corruption. Those are just tales which are at best from the “love after death” series.
It is also a delusion that if Nairi Hunanyan or his brother “had been properly interrogated”, they would have said who had ordered this terrible crime. Nobody would have interrogated them “better”, than Gagik Jhangiryan – the team of the former military prosecutor is experienced in that regard. Nairi was certainly encouraged to do that terrorist act, but in the way that he didn’t realize that he was fulfilling another man’s will. Therefore, quite professional people worked on the case. The indirect proof of that is that after “27” many participants and witnesses of that event who could have clarified the case passed away.
It is often the case that under the conditions of common tragedy there are also funny stories. In this case, the performing actors of such stories are the homeland defenders (yerkrapah). After the terrorist act they were gathering, getting angry, cursing and threatening to overthrow Robert Kocharyan and to make a terrifying statement. After “27” the jeeps of the homeland defenders were parked not far from my office in column of threes almost every day for a few weeks. However, nothing happened – Manvel and Seyran were attracted by offices and new economic privileges, afterwards Jhangiryan became the Deputy Attorney General and everything “was taken care of”.
I personally am happy that homeland defenders did not perform another coup. Firstly nothing good comes out of such coups. Secondly Manvel and Seyran are not better than Kocharyan at all.
