“Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovhanissian is in the Western Armenia on one-week visit. On October 22 he participated in the reopening ceremony of St. Kirakos Church in Tigranakert (Diyarbakir), along with thousands of Armenians who came from different parts of the globe, and afterwards in the re-anointing ceremony. On that day a group of Western Armenians who appeared as Sunni Muslims before were baptized in this old Armenian Apostolic Church”, informs the Heritage Party Press Agency. Responding to the question of “Hurriyet Daily News” regarding the cold relations between Armenians and Turks, Hovhanissian said, “It is exceedingly important for the two peoples to engage in dialogue, but without forgetting that great, dark disaster of history, like genocide.”
