The deadline of nominating candidates for the December 18 local government elections in the villages of Ashotavan, Vaghatur, Alvank, Chapni and Nzhdeh in the region of Syunik has ended. In three villages, namely Ashotavan, Vaghatur and Chapni, where the people elect leaders of the communities the current village headmen are nominated.
However, Hovhannes Badalyan, the current Republican headman of the village of Vaghatur of Goris County, will compete with unpartisan Edik Mashuryan and Albert Badalyan, and Razmik Hakobyan, the current unpartisan headman of the village of Chapni of Kapan County, will compete with unpartisan Norayr Tovmasyan, whereas Armen Beglaryan, the current Republican headman of the village of Ashotavan of Sisian County, will compete with Republican Arevshat Ohanyan and unpartisan Zaven Beglaryan.
ThevillageofNzhdehof Sisian and thevillageofAlvankof Meghri will elect the members of the community councils. 6 candidates were nominated in Nzhdeh, 3 of which were female, 1 unpartisan and 2 members of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA). The only female candidate nominated in Alvank is a Republican and the other 5 are unpartisan.
Let me remind that “Republican vs. Republican” elections were held also in other regions – in the community of Margahovit of Lori Region, the community of Achajur of Tavush Region, the community of Karmravan of Shirak Region and other communities.
