Today Armen Rustamyan, a representative of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Supreme Body in Armenia and the leader of the National Assembly standing commission on foreign affairs, said during a conversation with journalists, “PAP, being in the coalition, shows signs of independence and now everything is done to prevent that independence, because it is quite obvious that the Republican Party, the dominant force in the coalition, tries its best to have all the parties in the coalition run for the National Assembly election on a common list. It is in the interest of the Republican Party, because various layers that can split the coalition resources seem much more dangerous for the establishment, than various processes that can be of democratic nature. Therefore, the number one task of the establishment is to reproduce itself and the main resource of that reproduction is administrative and financial leverage. When there is a fuss in those fields, it raises serious concerns in the establishment. We have said that these discharges, resignations aim at that, to strengthen this resource, the reproduction, to make it smoother. PAP tries to show independence on this path. They prevented that once, trying to sign the famous February declaration, which, as it turned out, is not a guarantee at all and does not suffice. For example, it is not understandable for me what was not said in the February declaration that there is something new to be said now and what oath the political forces in the coalition have to make to defend the current supreme political forces and the current president forever and ever.”
