Samvel Nikoyan, as a candidate for the National Assembly Speaker, stated in his speech that one of his first steps taken in that office would be reviewing the regulations for journalists’ access to the parliament. He stated that the National Assembly was also the workplace of journalists who report on its work and they should have the right to freely enter the parliament on every workday and gather necessary information.
He asked not to consider that as a means to please mass media.
Let us remind that Hovik Abrahamyan, the former Speaker of the National Assembly, enacted an order for journalists’ access to the National Assembly, limiting their access to the parliament on all those days when sessions or meetings are not held.
