Do the Republic of Armenia Cabinet members rely on their wages?

December 06,2011 12:55

According to France-Presse, Mario Monti, the Prime Minister of Italy, considering the rising external debt of the country (€1.9 trillion) that is one of the biggest in the Eurozone at the moment, made a promise to work without wage. In response to a question of “Aravot” what percentage of the Armenian Cabinet members would do that, Armen Ashotyan, the Minister of Education and Science, said, “There are also other example in the international practice, when, on the contrary, leaders of various ranks start to add bonuses, give additional payments to themselves… I think if it remains, as it is now, we will be able to work. Nobody speaks of either additional payments, or refusing wage. A logical question should occur to you, on what do Armenian officials live? I haven’t read the income statement of the Italian Prime Minister, but I think he has alternative sources of income.”
