If a man decides not to be silent on something, to speak, to shout, it is necessary that he introduces himself as a man, a person. E.g. at the beginning of the 20th century the article titled “I Cannot Be Silent” made a lot of fuss. However, the author of it was not an “initiative” of unknown people, but Russian classical writer Lev Tolstoy who rebuked his country’s drawbacks. It is not important whether that rebuke was right or no – there was an author with his biography, his views who bore responsibility for the content of the article.
Social activist Mariam Sukhudyan with or without hair, with activities approved or disapproved by me introduces herself with her real face and if I have a question to ask her as a journalist or as a citizen, she will answer it personally and not “with press-releases” or statements. Tell me, please, have you ever seen the face of any member of “We Won’t Keep Silent” initiative, do you know the name of any of them, his/her workplace or educational institution. Are you sure that it is really a youth initiative, perhaps they are 70-year-old KGB agents. In the end, is it an NGO or a mass media, if it can conduct an exclusive interview with ArmenJigarkhanyan? I am not a skeptic and I am not a supporter of conspiracy theories either. But unless I see who and for what does that, I cannot objectively assess those actions. It is quite possible that in response to this concern of mine, the initiative will make an angry statement; however, it will include no phone number, no address and no name.
Another faceless organization, “Union of the Youth That Served in the Army” that has no “live” representative either was established to oppose “We Won’t Keep Silent” initiative. The “Youth” have stated that they will pull off the mask of the “Non-Silent”. My dears, you should have a face in the first place – you can wear a mask only if you have a face. A face without mask reminds me of Frankenstein.
