“The Police of Armenia explicitly abuse power yet again, prevent people’s right to freedom of movement and prevent our method of delivering our protest to the addressee”, said Artur Sakunts, the Chairman of Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Vanadzor office, to Aravot.am today, on the Human Rights Day. As we have already informed, the picket outside the Embassy of the Russian Federation was forbidden by the officers of the National Security Service and the Police of Armenia. They forbade journalists and picketers to stand on the Embassy territory and forced them to walk down to the Yerevan City Hall through the police forces. Here an argument broke out between the citizens and police officers that turned into a verbal fight afterwards. Later, after negotiations, the sides reached an agreement and the protesters gathered near Zakyan Street.
