Ruben Melkonyan, “The Turkish officials have crossed the limits of diplomatic ethics”

December 13,2011 16:29

“The Turkish officials have been unrestrained recently and have made statement that show that these people are ignorant and have nomadic past”, stated Turkologist Ruben Melkonyan, a vice-dean at the Oriental Studies Faculty of the Yerevan State University, during a press conference at “Pastark” (argument) club.

According to him, Turkey is nervous now, as the developments in the Armenian-Turkish relations have not been in their favor recently, “Joe Biden, the US Vice President, Nicolas Sarkozy, the President of France, Hillary Clinton, the US Secretary of State, have made statements restraining and urging Turkey to fulfill her obligations only during the past 1-2 months. Turkey cannot give an adequate response to all this anymore. The Turkish politicians make standard statements that they are ready to normalize the Armenian-Turkish relations, but they face explicit skepticism. After all this, losing their self-control, Turkish officials cross the limits of diplomatic ethics, sending an official message to the President of the Republic of Armenia.”

Let us mention that Egemen Bağış, the Minister for EU Affairs, stated yesterday, “Let nobody doubt that we know how to prevent every negative action against this nation.” According to Ruben Melkonyan, “Bağış did not conceal that his statement was official. That message had other addressees too, those countries that make statements supporting the normalization of the Armenian-Turkish relations.”
