“Yes, I am absolutely satisfied. If he had said before this that he didn’t do, it is a different matter, but it turns out that he has done, if he regretted, hasn’t he? During the first interrogation he denied, when they watched the video, he couldn’t deny. They didn’t call me to a show-up. He has already said that he regrets”, said famous businesswoman Silva Hambardzumyan, in response to the question of Aravot.am whether she was satisfied with the decision of the preliminary investigation body. Let us remind that the Special Investigation Agency (SIA) closed the case launched based on Silva Hambardzumyan’s written report on the incident that took place in the café of “Armenia-Marriot” hotel between her and Surik Khachatryan, the governor of Syunik, under Article 118 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (assault and battery). The governor of Syunik said in his testimony that he regretted for what had happened.
In response to the observation that at first she had demanded that the governor apologized publicly, Silva Hambardzumyan explained, “I demanded, but he wouldn’t have done that. He would have done it through his relatives, and I would have said to journalists that I was satisfied, they wouldn’t have believed. It is better this way. I will also get my goods and will be very pleased, I will not talk to him at all.” Let us remind that she was talking about 100 million-AMD-worth equipment “misappropriated” by Surik Khachatryan from the Lichkvaz-Tey gold mine. According to Silva Hambardzumyan, that money will have been given to her by the end of the week. Let us observe that this case has been considered by the courts for a few years already.
In response to the observation of Aravot.am that considering Surik Khachatryan’s character, it was not ruled out that he might use this compliant attitude of Silva Hambardzumyan and would even boast that he had fallen on his feet again, Silva Hambardzumyan said, “The moment he boasts, I will treat him differently. My lawyer has petitioned to take the case back. If he tries to boast, certainly, I will try to go deeper. However, I think he won’t do such thing anymore. Yes, he learned the lesson and he will not behave like that not only with women, but also everybody anymore. The newspapers wrote so much that he will not do anything anymore, because he may come across someone like me.”
All this time Surik Khachatryan has not called Silva Hambardzumyan, has not tried to settle the argument personally or through a mediator.
