Impunity again

December 14,2011 12:44

During a conversation with “Aravot”, Surik Khachatryan stated that he had not apologized to Silva Hambardzumyan. I am convinced that he didn’t lie in this case – a tough guy should not apologize for “slapping” a woman (this mild definition is used by the Special Investigation Service). This guy will not be respected by the environment, will he? The real tough guy will act like a hooligan, then take care of the witness (who is also a representative of the “elite”, an MP and therefore is also our “good bro”) and the law-enforcers cutting a deal and will avoid responsibility. In that case, this brilliant guy will be respected in the neighborhood. Liska, his brothers and sons of his brother did the same way. It is a practice that is both rational and acceptable by the environment. When I expressed my position on the action of the governor of Syunik, many people opposed me “do you know who that Silva is?” Certainly, Silva’s personality is an extenuating and even justifying circumstance. There were deep analysts who claimed that this woman was an agent sent from the President’s staff to provoke the fractious governor and solve some issues of intra-establishment struggle. Although it was proved yesterday that that whole theory was void, all the same, the “analysts” can say that it happened, because Liska’s wing was more powerful.

These are all tales. The reality is simpler. There are figures in the establishment who are accustomed to impunity and can allow themselves anything, convinced that their “service” will be required by all establishments. As compensation there is impunity in everything, from illegal advantages in business to small everyday manifestations. E.g. they have the right to drive on the road with their bodyguards so as no one can overrun them and if anyone ventures to do so, he will be violently punished by the same bodyguards. The man who overruns those tough guys will be “slapped” a few times, using the word used by the Special Investigation Service. It is obvious for me that people leaveArmenianot only because of financially harsh conditions, but also such hopeless, desperate, humiliating incidents. People don’t want to live in the country of Liskas – at the end of the day it is offensive.
