They say he has started to cooperate with the authorities
According to the well-informed sources of “Aravot”, Smbat Karakhanyan, the head of the “Union” national club in Moscow that is known to the Armenian public for publishing sensational revelations about the property of the Armenian establishment on his blog has started to cooperate with the Armenian authorities.
According to the information we got, he appeared and was actively involved in the entourage of two famous Armenian businessmen who are perceived to be loyal teammates of Robert Kocharyan and Serzh Sargsyan. We are talking about Kamo Avagumyan and Gennady Stepanyan, both of Nagorno-Karabakh origin.
Let us remind that Kamo Avagumyan who holds the offices of the Chief Deputy of the Armenian Attorney General and the representative of the Armenian Attorney General’s Office in CIS today is a rather successful businessman in Moscow. He is the owner of “Avilon” company in the Russian Federation and the representative of “Mercedes-Benz” company who deals with sales of Mercedes in Eastern Europe, including and in particular to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Federal Security Service (FSB) of the Russian Federation and other state bodies. As for Gennady Stepanyan, he is related to Robert Kocharyan, is co-owner of the famous “Yerevan Plaza” shopping and entertainment center and the director of “Stincom Group”. By the way, let us mention off-topic that there have been different publications in the Russian press about the deals and money-laundering of these two businessmen at various times. Certainly, there is the presumption of innocence, not to mention that those people have never stand before the court in Moscow. However, it is nonsense, at least from the moral and ethical points of view, that the Chief Deputy of the Armenian Attorney General and the representative of the Armenian Attorney General’s Office in CIS is involved in this and he, holding those offices, is related to Italian underworld leader of Armenian descent Don Pipo.
Getting back to Karakhanyan and pro-government businessmen, let us also add another fact got from our sources that the Armenian Attorney General’s Office was intending to arrest Smbat Karakhanyan some time ago – it is hard to say whether for his publications or for other reasons. This intention, however, was not realized, according to our information, because “Kamo of Mercedes”, the assistant of the Armenian Attorney General, took on restraining and calling Karakhanyan to order and probably succeeded in that. “Aravot” has been trying to contact Smbat Karakhanyan to get a comment or clarification on this information as early as since Tuesday, but we did not manage, although he was informed about the reason for our calls via messages.
