Today Eduard Sharmazanov, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and the press secretary for RPA, assured in the summary report of this year that 2011 had been a year of progress and unity, not of personal offenses and year 2012 will be a year of tolerance. Journalists tried to clarify what tolerance he was talking about under the conditions of jealousy shown by parties. According to Sharmazanov, “I mean there will be no political forces that will wish to make populist statements. Jealousy is not a political category, the opposition is to criticize and the government must be more tolerant.”

In response to the question whether there was, nevertheless, controversy between the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) and RPA, said when it came to insurmountable controversy, certainly no and the rest was normal process and a manifestation of plurality.

As for forming a common list, according to Mr. Sharmazanov, RPA has discussed neither the strategic nor tactical issues of the upcoming parliamentary election.

RPA secretary mentioned in his speech that RPA is a proper member of EPP. Heritage Party leader Raffi Hovhannisyan has said in this regard recently that EPP membership decision will be made in February and no one should joy before February. Therefore, Aravot.am tried to clarify why RPA joyed beforehand, “We don’t think that we are a member of EPP, Mr. Martens thinks. We don’t joy based on this or that statement. We have noted that RPA is a proper de facto member of EPP from now on and will be a de jure member from February. As theNagorno-KarabakhRepublicis de facto independent and we want it to be de jure recognized, the same applies to EPP case. If Raffi Hovhannisyan is upset by that, it is his problem.”
