Results and wishes

December 20,2011 12:56

The year is ending and it is natural that every one of us thinks of results and wishes. I don’t agree with people who say that only bad things have happened this year. E.g. one of the positive things in the passing year was the release of political prisoners. The interests of the opposition, the non-marginalized part of the society (unfortunately, they are the minority today) and the signals from the West coincided in this case. By the way if some things coincide also in the case of conducting free elections, the “revolutionary” effects promised by the government are absolutely possible. The initiative for dialogue was also positive, although it failed because of the ambitions and inexperience of the sides.

Certainly, economic deterioration is negative and alarming. Our Prime Minister and the ministers of the economic field seem to be smart, educated people – then, it is incomprehensible why they don’t take obvious steps, which are advised by the specialists and were taken inGeorgia, in particular. It is not only the issue of political will, there is also an element of the same ambitions and obstinacy. The representatives of the government, speaking of the economic condition during private conversations, usually “console” me, “Everything is worse than you think and write.” Therefore, I wish every one of us that everything becomes as bad as I think it is.

I have another wish, or rather a dream that is unlikely to be realized next year. I usually hear assessments like “caring for people” or “not caring for people” from our citizens during everyday conversations, by which people assess this or that figure or generally the government positively or negatively. Tigran Karapetich, for example, cared for people, gave old women TV sets as a present, brought people to Sevan, had them swim, eat barbecue, people in turn said thank you to him in front of cameras. Now, in the upcoming months, there will appear many “caring” people, wherein both camps will be included – the Congress also cares for retirees, says we will give the money left in “Khnaybank” (savings bank). But I dream of the time (that wish of mine is probably quite depoliticized) when neither we will care for the parties and the government, nor they will care for us. Each of us will live his own life.
