Myasnik Malkhasyan, “If someone takes back his petition, he will admit that he has participated in a coup”

January 18,2012 12:38

None of those prisoners of conscience, who are united around the Armenian National Congress, is going to take back his petition filed in the ECHR. Myasnik Malkhasyan, the coordinator for the “Prisoners of  Conscience” social initiative, said this. Let us remind that Suren Sirunyan, a prisoner of conscience in “the case of seven” stated during an interview given to Aravot.am yesterday that he and other former prisoners of conscience would take back their petitions filed in the ECHR. Sirunyan explained that move, as follows, “I am not ready to be used as a tool by some people and in their interest.”

In response to a question regarding this, Malkhasyan added, “We were accused of a serious crime, in an attempt of a coup and actions that caused the death of 10 people. This was such a serious crime that we filed in all judicial instances of the Republic of Armenia, seeking justice in Armenia. Unfortunately, we failed and were compelled to file in the European Court, in order to prove that the real criminals, people, who had really carried out a coup, had not been punished, the real murderers who shot dead 10 innocent citizens, had not been punished. If anyone takes back his petition, he will automatically admit his guilt that he participated in a coup, that he is responsible for the death of 10 innocent people and will admit that he is righteously accused of committing such a serious crime. Every rational man will not take that path.” Myasnik Malkhasyan thinks that people taking such a step are just forced to do that.
