Gallup International Association has conducted an “End of Year Survey: Global Barometer of Happiness”, the results of which showed that in response to a question that was added this year “Do Armenians think they are happy or not?” 70% of our compatriots answered that they thought they were happy. That survey has been conducted since 1977. The survey, the questions list of which was prepared in Zurich, was conducted in 58 countries. The survey was conducted in the pre-holiday season, from December 22-26.
5000 people have expressed their notions from Armenia over the phone. In Ghana, 82% of the population thinks it is happy, in Nigeria – 89%, in the Netherlands – 81%, in Azerbaijan 58% thinks it is happy, in Turkey – 44%. Today Aram Navasardyan, the Armenian Representative of the Gallup International, and the director of the MPG research company, made these results public at “Armat” (root) club. He informed that the survey had been conducted also in Georgia, but that country decided not to publish the results for some reason.
The above-mentioned results have aroused the surprise of many people and some people doubt those. In response to such viewpoints expressed during a press conference yesterday, A. Navasardyan called them “water babble” and gave examples from international experience that phone surveys were still conducted. He also added that the question concerning happiness had been the third in the list and the respondents couldn’t have mocked.
Aravot.am has conducted its own small survey among our compatriots.
