The Minister of Education and Culture gave a political order to rectors

January 18,2012 13:47

Armen Ashotyan, the Minister of  Education and Culture, said during a press conference today that he had given “terrifying” orders to college rectors at the threshold of the election.

“I gave a strict political order. To strictly follow the enforcement of parties, education and public education laws in their educational institutions. No political meetings and discussions inside colleges and at the expense of classes. Outside the college, out of classes, every rector, professor, student has the right to be a member of a party, go to rallies, preach etc.”, said the minister.

In his words, besides the political order, he also instructed rectors to work harder, “The more tangible and visible reforms in the educational sphere are the bigger my personal and political dividend is. There is no need to use special administrative leverage, hard professional work is the best political PR in the educational sphere for us.”
