January 18,2012 14:04

The budget of the Ministry of  Diaspora is 490 million AMD this year and the ministry will use that money to carry out both the old projects and the new ones. Today Hranush Hakobyan, the Ministry of Diaspora of  the Republic of Armenia, said during a meeting with journalists that “Come Home”, “Great People of Our Nation” projects, professional researches and all-Armenian meetings will continue.

In 2011 the ministry organized 13 professional forums, “The Role of the Armenian woman in the Diaspora”, forums of Armenian cardiologists, journalists, constructors and architects, the heads of the Diaspora organizations, businessmen and the representatives of chambers of trade and commerce etc. Hundreds of people from over 150 countries participated in all this. 812 Diaspora Armenians from 35 countries came to Armenia through “Come Home” project. Last year 30 one-day schools were opened in Georgia, Germany and other countries.

In order to bring the Armenian youth abroad closer to Armenia “Come Home” project, the school for young leaders of the Diaspora, as well as the all-Armenian virtual parliament for youth have been established. The ministry intends to organize Armenian courses for the Diaspora youth in summer. However, the minister said that there was no age limit, if a 40-year-old Diaspora Armenian wanted to participate in the course, there would be no problem. However, for people at the age of 20-22 the Armenian courses will be like “Come Home” project, they will come to Armenia at their own expense and will live with host families, whereas the education for aged people will be free of charge and the issue of residence will be solved differently.

Hranush Hakobyan called on the Armenian well-doers to support the main and crucial factor in the issue of preserving Armenians, solution of the language knowledge issue.

Besides, Armenia will try to carry out “Community-to-Community” movement – a rich Armenian community or a rich Armenian in one country will help an Armenian organization of another country.
