Solvable and unsolvable issues

January 21,2012 12:45

One part of problems in the world is solvable in principle and the other not. E.g. one cannot invent the eternal engine. If it had been possible, people wouldn’t have killed each other for oil and gas. Or it is impossible that a former or current president or MP in the world would publicly admit “yes, I was elected unfairly.” However unfair elections are solvable in principle – at the end of the day, perhaps in 20 or 50 years in Armenia and other countries, people (not politicians, but ordinary citizens) will realize why it is so important and in that instance rumors lasting for 17 years here that have already bored with their repetition will stop. Unless people don’t realize the connection between their daily bread and legitimacy, that problem is unsolvable.

With the same logic the problem of establishing law and order on the roads is still unsolvable, unless drivers and pedestrians realize that it is what they need. Cameras are installed on the roads, particularly aiming at decreasing violations. However, what one should do, if the majority of our citizens want to break the rules and perceive it as means for self-affirmation? And now they are looking for ways how to avoid the all-seeing eye of cameras. A not-so-smart man spread information that using hairspray it was possible to make license plates invisible for the camera. As a result we have a hairspray deficit in the shops.

However let us finish this small theory of solvable and unsolvable problems with an optimistic example. There is a big pit on the borderline between Davitashen and Zovuni that a car cannot avoid and that has not been filled in for a month and has become a reason for many crashes. It belongs neither to the village nor to the city – it is a neutral zone.  By the way, the ministry of emergency situations is only a few dozen meters away, probably, young workers of that ministry, examining that pit, get practice knowledge about emergency situations. Casinos start a few meters away, but their owners probably don’t care for that pit either – gamblers who fall in a pit literally will more probably fall in the “pit” of their passion figuratively. However, the problem of this (I mean, material) pit is not hopeless – a parliamentary election is expected soon and the majoritarian representation candidate who is close to us, the people, will have that pit filled in and have his photo taken next to it. Therefore, arm yourselves with patience till March-April.
