Hovhannes Igityan, a member of the Pan-Armenian National Movement (PANM) Management Committee and Armenian National Congress (ANC), noted at the discussion held at Hayeli (mirror) Club today that the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) had not overcome what happened in 2008.
In response to a question of Aravot.am what sort of “disease” the Republican Party had, Mr. Igityan explained as follows, “I mean the situation that our state has been under pressure for 4 years, has made many diplomatic oversights, it has been compelled to justify itself before various international organizations all the time for 4 years. The Council of Europe was a terrifying thing for us – the whole republic is preparing for the visits of its co-rapporteurs between sessions, shaking with fear, whenPrescottcomes what are we going to answer? If you think it is a normal country, a normal diplomacy, when forgetting about the global problems, we have dealt with firstly proving the world that we didn’t kill 10 people in 2008, then that we killed them by chance, then, yes, it just happened so, but we cannot find the guilty, then that there were no political reasons, then, no, there were, but we had already missed them. So, this means that they haven’t overcome all this; it is still on the agenda. And if this election is held in almost the same manner, all these sins will be on the agenda again.”
