Today Aravot.am inquired from Aram Harutyunyan, the Minister of Nature Protection, what he thought of the declaration on Teghut circulating in PACE, which had been joined by 44 delegates. “In my opinion, such issues should be discussed in the legal field. As for Orhus Convention, we work on that convention, we are aware of offers that convention makes; those are mainly about issues of legislative compatibility. We have already taken a few steps in that direction, for example, warning processes, the Subsoil Code that has already been passed. If the obligations undertaken by Armenia, according to Orhus Convention, are at issue, that issue has already been discussed in the framework of convention and respected decisions have been made. In terms of improving the nature protection legislation, it has already been done. Progress has been made and there is no reason to worry.”
