The police have solved the assault with intend to rob that was committed inYerevanlast year.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, today, February 1, at noon, the officers of the Central Unit and the Investigation Unit of the same unit of the Police Main Criminal Investigation Department were conducting a walkthrough in the front yard of16 Heratsi Streetbuilding.
According to G. Shamshyan, the investigation is related to the fact that yesterday the officers of the 2-nd Department of the Criminal Investigation Main Department, checking investigation information, revealed 24-year-old Karen Mkrtchyan, a resident of the region of Kotayk, who was previously convicted of assault with intent to rob, and took him to the Main Department.
It turned out that on February 28, 2010, at around 5pm K. Mkrtchyan assaulted Maoid Jahudari, a citizen of theRepublicofIndia, with intent to rob. Before the robbery he hit the foreigner on the head with a bottle. The Investigation Unit of the Central Unit of the Police Main Investigation Department launched an investigation, according to Article 175 (robbery) of the Criminal Code of theRepublicofArmenia. By the way, when the photojournalist was taking photos on the crime scene during the walkthrough, K. Mkrtchyan was offended, “I have committed, admitted, then why do you take photos and make a fuss? I didn’t rob an Armenian, did I?”

By the way, the victim, along with his friend, was also in the front yard of the building and not only recognized the assaulter, but also excitedly told the photojournalist the details of the crime.
