There were speculations in press that after the election Artur Baghdasaryan would become the Speaker of the National Assembly. However, the RLP leader stated a few days ago that he was tired of the National Assembly.
Today journalists inquired from RLP faction leader Heghine Bisharyan at Henaran Club whether that implied that Artur Baghdasaryan would not enter the National Assembly. According to Mrs. Bisharyan’s commentary, “Artur Baghdasaryan said frankly and honestly that he was already tired of working as an MP. Certainly, he will not come to the National Assembly, he must lead the party list. In order to deny those rumors, he explicitly said that he would not come to the National Assembly either as an MP or as the Speaker of the National Assembly.” In response to a question whether he had ambitions for another office, whether he would prefer being without office to being the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mrs. Bisharyan said that the issue of being or not being in office was not at stake, “The fact that he doesn’t see himself the National Assembly Speaker is at stake, he said very well and don’t try to speculate ‘but this…, but that…’”
We also inquired from the spokesperson why some forces showed explicit enmity toward RLP, why it was so, whether they perceived RLP a competitor. According to Heghine Bisharyan, RLP has doubled its abilities for the past few years and it causes envy. According to her, there are jealous people from among the government circles too, “For envy it doesn’t matter whether one is from government or opposition. Envy is not a political category, but it is very active.”
