The Republic Party and the Democratic Motherland Party abstain

February 06,2012 17:02

A regular meeting of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) political council will take place on Wednesday, during which parties should express their position on candidacies, party candidates for the ANC proportional representation list and majoritarian representation. The Democratic Motherland Party members did not manage to form a common opinion, as a result of discussions at the weekend. Let us remind that this party has always expressed an alternative perspective in ANC.

Aravot.am inquired from party leader Petros Makeyan why they hadn’t managed to form a common opinion yet. In response, Mr. Makeyan said, “Taking into consideration that ANC is a big institution, we try to find such a mechanism that there may be no controversies, clashes of interests and most importantly that we send the society a message that there are no problems in terms of places in ANC. There are complex mechanisms; we try to strike a balance.”

Our interlocutor assured that they would clarify the position till Wednesday and would put it forward for consideration at the ANC political council. He informed that the Republic Party hadn’t expressed its position yet either.
