The Hayeli Club hosted Armenian Liberal Party leader Hovhannes Hovhannisyan (Armenian National Congress) and National Assembly member and head of the Social Affairs Committee Hakob Hakobyan (Republican Party of Armenia) today. They discussed disputable issues regarding the Restrictions for Cash Deals bill. Putting forward the bill before the election has been construed in recent days as having a hidden agenda to supervise the cash deals of the Prosperous Armenia Party. As a result, coalition partners, the Prosperous Armenia Party and the Republican Party of Armenia, confronted each other.
H. Hakobyan said in this regard, “I am against ‘confrontation’ and ‘supervision over the PAP cash deals’ definitions. Today 3 million people live inArmenia, one hundred thousand of which are businessmen. So, was the law only about the PAP? The law was about everyone inArmeniaand not only the PAP or the Republican Party of Armenia. The Prosperous Armenia Party was against the bill as it was and it didn’t vote, therefore, the bill was not passed. The discussion on the rewritten bill will continue at the National Assembly and we will pass it.”
H. Hovhannisyan responded, “The Prosperous Armenia Party took a political step. Not only did it not vote, but it left the hall and boycotted. The political term for this is political demarche. I think the Prosperous Armenia Party had correct observations regarding the law. It is not right to pass the bill at this moment and in this shape.”
