The thoughts expressed by leader of the Armenian Liberal Party Hovhannes Hovhannisyan (ANC) and National Assembly member and head of the Social Affairs Committee Hakob Hakobyan (RPA) at the Hayeli Club did not have anything in common at all. H. Hovhannisyan noted, “The power for the current establishment is a cow that provides big personal and corporative benefits and has been milked by the establishment for fifteen years and suffices everybody’s interest.” H. Hovhannisyan treats the promises of the establishment to hold a transparent election with suspicion, since the policy it pursues has failed in all areas – political, economic and moral. H. Hakobyan responded, “If the establishment is not capable of controlling the power it has taken, it gives up that power voluntarily.” Those words made H. Hovhannisyan angry and he mocked that one should be moral for that. Then, he said, “I am under the impression that the Republican Party works according to the principle ‘after us the deluge.’ One must think that he is going to inherit a country to the progeny, mustn’t he? Whereas our country lives in debt and why must our children and your children pay that debt?”
They referred also to the lists, with which the parties would participate in the election. Regarding the statement made by Prime Minister of theRepublicofArmenia Tigran Sargsyanthe other day that businessmen known to the society would not be included in the RPA list, H. Hovhannisyan said, “We will see when the lists are made. Easier said than done.” H. Hakobyan got irritated with the words of his colleague, “Mind your own business and don’t interfere with the internal affairs of our party.”
In response to a question what would be the list of the ANC for the upcoming election, H. Hovhannisyan said that only one thing was clear – first president of theRepublicofArmeniawould lead the ANC list. Then, he added, “We are not oligarchs to discuss the issue of including or not including them in the list. All oligarchs serve you.”
