The deputy warden was arrested while receiving a large bribe

Today an official of the Ministry of Justice was arrested for demanding and receiving a bribe.

As photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan informed, today, February 9, officers of the Main (6th) Department of the Republic of Armenia Police for Fight against Organized Crime arrested on the spot 34-year-old resident of  Goris Marek Harutyunyan, the deputy warden of the Goris Correctional Facility (Goris Prison), while the latter was demanding and receiving a bribe in the amount of $4000 from citizen of Armenia Sahakyan.

G. Shamshyan informed that the deputy warden had demanded and received the large amount of money from H. Sahakyan for having her husband, who served his term at the Goris Correctional Facility, found sick, in order to have him transferred to the Central Prison Hospital of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.

An investigation was launched into the incident, according to Article 311 (bribery), Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. M. Harutyunyan was arrested. The case materials were transmitted from the Main Department of the Police for Fight against Organized Crime to the Special Investigation Service of  Armenia.
