What did they do besides handing out flowers to girls, Galust Sahakyan is interested

February 13,2012 17:09

Today Aravot.am asked Galust Sahakyan, the deputy chairman of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), for explanations on violations during the local election yesterday. We were particularly interested whether there was nothing unusual, when they had handed out flowers to girls in the electoral districts of the community of Pemzashen. Galust Sahakyan said in response, “What else did they do to girls? I don’t know what happened in Pemzashen, the one who was elected is not a Republican. You know, don’t involve Karabala’s main principle in politics! It is Karabala, don’t ask me about that! If someone handed out flowers in villages, one may be excited about that, become more lyrical, but they wouldn’t buy votes with flowers anyway.”

We also asked whether the demand of a voter during the election the previous day that they wanted the election bribe to be distributed fairly and evenly was appropriate. Let us remind that an incident occurred yesterday, when a voter complained that she had two children, why they would bribe the others and not her. In this regard, Galust Sahakyan responded, “Those could be provocations. The problem is that today the person you are talking about hasn’t complained anywhere that her rights were violated. Or another says that they handed out money, he cannot say who handed out either. Therefore, those are consequences. The reality is complaints and there have been no complaints.”
