“The local elections in 39 municipalities on Sunday were held very normally, without big problems and I think that the results speak for themselves, one should note another achievement of the RPA. This election is a good foundation for us, the results of which may be registered during the upcoming National Assembly election too,” Arayik Hovhannisyan, an RPA MP made such an assessment at the Hayeli Club today.
Lilit Galstan, an ARF MP, listening to her colleague recalled Bakunts’s “apricot flowerbed” phrase.
She is convinced that the establishment used the administrative resource at this election and it was a prelude to the May election. “We catch you red-handed, but we cannot prove. You are going for the May election with this morality,” said Lilit Galstyan to her opponent. And in response to an idea expressed by Arayik Hovhannisyan that they had proven their victories by deeds, the ARF MP mocked, “You have proved that by your image too. Open websites and look at your real image.”

Arayik Hovhannisyan recalled a set of achievements made by the RPA that the RPA had won even the first election through majoritarian representation in Yerevan, “I am surprised that you are surprised at the results of the Sunday election.”
In response to a question of Aravot.am whether one could say, given the fact that in 31 out of 39 municipalities the Republican candidates had won, that not so fair elections were conducted in the other 8, Mr. Hovhannisyan said that free and fair elections were held in all 39.
In response to journalists’ observation that perhaps our population suffered from masochism, because the worse the life became, the more they “trusted” the ruling party, Arayik Hovhannisyan said, “I would ask you to speak of our population more respectfully. Everyone has his own opinion, one shouldn’t cause additional problems. It is the result that was registered.”
They also inquired from Mr. Hovhannisyan whether he would point out one Republican alive who was an ideological man, because whenever they asked they mentioned Andranik Margaryan or spoke of Nzhdeh. Arayik Hovhannisyan called for speaking more respectfully about Republicans this time, saying, “Such a man is standing in front of you.”
