“The only task is no political force should have 67 and more seats in the next parliament. The Republican Party is the most probable candidate and will try to do that in different ways. Majoritarian electoral districts are very important for that. One should note one thing that neither the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), nor the Congress have the power to win all the majoritarian electoral districts, therefore, they have to do the following, share the electoral districts between the Prosperous Armenia Party and the Congress – let Congress nominate candidates in the districts where the Prosperous Armenia has more chances, but let them withdraw candidacies at the last moment, in the districts, where the Armenian National Congress (ANC) candidates have better chances, let PAP not put forward any candidacies,” Armen Badalyan, a political technologies expert, thinks this is the way how the ANC and the PAP can be allies against the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).
Karen Kocharyan, a PR technologies expert said at the Hayatsk (view) Club today that this mechanism was impossible, “The PAP will never go for helping an opposition party.” However Armen Badalyan thinks that if the PAP doesn’t help the ANC, it will be punished afterwards, “If the Republican Party wins more than 67 seats, the Congress will be able to remain as opposition, but the Prosperous Armenia will not be forgiven for these games, yesterday’s memorandum, that it didn’t participate on a joint list and didn’t become an associate; it will not be forgiven.”
Mr. Badalyan went so far as not to rule out even a coalition between the Prosperous Armenia Party and the Congress, “A coalition between the Congress and the Prosperous Armenia is not ruled out. A coalition between the Prosperous Armenia and the RPA is not ruled out either, but the Prosperous Armenia will take the office of the Prime Minister and some other influential ministries. In that instance, if Serzh Sargsyan is elected the president, it will not be a one-man rule. The Prime Minister will have big leverage and in that instance, whoever is the president, there will not be a one-man rule.”
