There is a cold winter and a lot of snow not only inArmenia. In a set of European countries the situation is the same. Last week, for example, the life was paralyzed inRomefor 4 days and in Milan, the absolute record for that city (-18 degrees) was registered on Monday. Towns and villages of Serbia,Romania,Bulgaria and Montenegro face serious problems. Under those conditions the leaders of the communities first apologize to the population and then call for help, for example, to shovel snow in front of their houses or companies. The municipal budget ofRomeis not less than $1 billion, but the city administration there was also unable to overcome the natural phenomenon.
Only inYerevan, everything is perfect – snow and ice has been removed from all streets and sidewalks – people drive and walk on dry asphalt and they don’t have any difficulty. Don’t you believe it? Watch the videos broadcasted by our TV channels, where the residents ofYerevanexpress gratitude to the city hall and Taron Margaryan himself with great enthusiasm and “spontaneously”… I wanted to say “for happy childhood,” but in this case, for removing snow and ice. I remembered my happy childhood, certainly, the poems pioneers recited at the Communist Party congresses addressing “beloved Leonid Ilyich.” I thought those times were in the past.
We all walk along the streets of Yerevan. Where have “spontaneous citizens” seen that the sidewalks at least on Mashtots or Sayat-Nova streets are not covered with ice? Many people drive cars – don’t “grateful people” see that the roadway has “diminished” in many places because of snow and ice gathered on the waysides and in some places, due to “Egyptian pyramids” not removed for days. I don’t know who told the generally nice mayor to take that TV “PR action,” but that step causes the opposite reaction. It is like commercials, where the ruling parties admit new members and the newly-admitted party members say in front of the camera that they have become members, because they like the ideology of that party and it becomes obvious that those party members pronounce the word “ideology” for the first time in their lives.
In conclusion, we live in a country, where no one will sincerely thank you even for what you have done, let alone for what you haven’t.
