Two days ago the coalition party leaders participated in the meeting of the coalition, about which it was mentioned only that “the parties discussed and reasserted their participation in the election with their own party lists, in the atmosphere of tolerance and civilized competition, they attached importance to the unity of the coalition cooperation, the necessity of political restraint and civility, the decisiveness to hold a free, fair and transparent election with honest participation.”
We asked the opposition party MPs about their impression of this report. Stepan Safaryan, the leader of the Heritage Party National Assembly faction, made the following comment, “The chary press report makes me think that the coalition and particularly the Republican Party of Armenia admits that the source of intolerance is inside them and they should be tolerant and preserve the rules of honest and civilized competition in the first place. As for how they will do that regarding competition with other political forces and how they will guarantee holding free and transparent election, we will wait and see. Although judging from the minor attacks of the RPA members on the Heritage Party and its leader, it is not hard to imagine how the establishment perceives tolerance.”
