Alaverdyan Speaks of the Connection Between Oskanian, Tsarukyan and Kocharyan (Video)

February 16,2012 18:22

During a press conference convened on February 3, Raffi Hovhannisian, the Heritage Party leader, said that their door was open to former foreign minister Vartan Oskanian.

During a conversation with Aravot.am today, Larisa Alaverdyan, the Heritage faction secretary, stated that it would be strange for her, if  Oskanian joined the ranks of their opposition party from the beginning. We inquired whether it had been expectable that he would join the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), Ms. Alaverdyan said, “One may think that it was calculated and the expectation was that. Not only because of the connection with the second president, as he was the foreign minister during his presidency.”

In response to our question whether she also thought that Oskanian’s joining the PAP was a prelude or a signal of the second president’s return, Larisa Alaverdyan said, “I think that the second president doesn’t stop wishing to have an influence on the political stage, besides business, on which we know he has.  The PAP was a joint idea of the second president and Mr. Tsarukyan.”

In response to our question whether there were other places, holes for Robert Kocharyan to enter, if not through Vartan Oskanian, Ms. Alaverdyan said, “If the Prosperous Armenia wins an absolute majority, it is certainly the office of the Prime Minister.”

Ms. Alaverdyan thinks it is normal, when a man politically matures and realizes at an older age ideas of which party he shares, “I highly appreciate the advantages of all ages. I am not a party member myself, so it is hard for me to imagine that I will become a party member at this age. Although I support the Heritage Party and think that there is no such party yet, it would be better, if there were 5-6 people like Raffi Hovhannisian. So, my wishes are in that positive camp. I don’t think that the second president is also a representative of that positive camp.”

Larisa Alaverdyan is convinced that all complaints about Robert Kocharyan – events related to March 1 – have not been forgotten, “That page is turned over in the books of the Council of Europe, whereas in the hearts of people, it is not.”
