Garegin Chugaszyan, a member of the initiating group of the Sardarapat movement, was hosted at the Urbat club today. Talking about the Legal Regime of the State of Emergency bill, he said, “They try to oppose one part of the society to another. The establishment that has taken power from the people achieves an opposite result in case of discussing this bill – it reveals its internal weaknesses.” As a way out of this situation, Mr. Chugaszyan proposes to form an alternative authority.
Zhirayr Sefilyan noted in his speech, “We got rid of the imperial totalitarianism 20 years ago and since that time the only state institution, which our people has retained respect for is our army, since it is the result of the Artsakh war for freedom. We remember that the militia, the people, bore the heavy burden in the first stage of the struggle – the army emerged out of it. So, the army emerged among the people. So, passing this bill, the establishment wants to alienate the army from our people in the first place. However, I have no hopes that this establishment can show sense and give up its decision. I am convinced that they will continue this process and the parliament inferior to them will ratify it. Nonetheless, I am also convinced that the establishment will not manage to oppose the army to the people, anyway, since a son doesn’t hurt his parents.”
