Was One of the Girls That Scratched the Police Officer a Journalist of Haykakan Zhamanak? (Video)

February 22,2012 16:39

The trial of the Armenian National Congress (ANC) activists is continuing in the trial court of the Kentron and Nork-Marash administrative districts at the moment. Aram Manukyan, the leader of the Pan-Armenian National Movement (PANM) came to encourage the activists.

The memory of  Hayk Najaryan, who has been found a victim in this trial, was “restored” after all. He remembered that one of the girls that had pushed and scratched him was Ani Grigoryan, a journalist of Haykakan Zhamanak and the sister of one of the ANC activists Sargis Gevorgyan. Ani assured during a conversation with us that she hadn’t been at the scene on that day at all; she had been writing an article at the office, “They are trying to involve me for yet another time.” Hayk Najaryan’s memory failed him all the time during the trial: now he would say that he had seen all the suspects cursing him and the police, now he would say that he hadn’t seen suspect Artak Katapetyan personally, he had just heard from friends that he had cursed too, “6-7 months have passed, there are things that I don’t remember.” He was assuring today that Tigran Arakelyan had personally cursed him, whereas during the last court session he was saying that Tigran hadn’t cursed, he had just said, “So you are a police officer, huh?” Today he added to that, “You such and such cops.” Tigran Arakelyan inquired again, “Did I say copper too?” The victim searched his memory and responded, “No, I haven’t heard ‘copper.’ ”

Let us mention that during the breaks the police officers testifying would gather around a woman who would give them advice. As it is known, witnesses do not listen to each other’s testimonies at a court session, because the judge asks them to leave until they are called. However, that woman seemed to prepare witnesses before testifying. Details in the video.

Let us remind that the ANC youths are accused of clashing with police officers and using violence against them near Swan Lake on August 9.
