Arman Musinyan, the Armenian National Congress (ANC) press secretary stated during a press conference convened at Hayatsk Club today that gaining seats as a result of the parliamentary election was not an aim in itself for the ANC and added, “Even if we have only one MP, but a free and fair election is held, we will perceive it as the assessment of the society and will be the first to congratulate the winning party. There is one main obstacle in the way of free and fair elections at the moment – it is the establishment and the Republican Party led by Serzh Sargsyan. If there is a free and fair election, the ANC will have a considerable representation in the parliament and there will be no sign of the ruling party. We must destroy this election fraud machine that is sponsored by the establishment and reach elimination of the Republican Party supervision over the parliament.” Talking about the discussions on proportional and majoritarian representation, the ANC press secretary noted, “The political stage of the Republic of Armenia has almost completely – except for the establishment’s protector, the RPA – united around one idea that there will be a switch to 100% proportional representation. Perhaps you will not find a single country in the world, where all the political parties will be united around one idea and only one party that has won the majority of votes in the parliament through a rigged election firmly says that it will not happen, period. There is no grain of political mentality here at all. This is a totally criminal attitude that shows the criminal nature of the Republican Party.”
Mr. Musinyan mentioned only the RPA as a protector of the establishment. In response to a question whether the Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) was not a protector of the establishment, the press secretary responded, “The PAP is for political rivalry and if it shows in the upcoming months and on the election day that it is really interested in free and fair elections, if it shows socio-political resistance to the election fraud, in that instance, I think big opportunities for cooperation will be offered. And it will be the proof that the RPA is the pillar of this establishment, the main executor of election fraud and illegalities.”
