A press conference was convened at Azdak Club today on the topic Will Armenia Go to Baku for Eurovision or Not, which Armenian stars Alla Levonyan and Arsen Grigoryan, aka Mro, participated in.
The woman singer explained her negative notion in the following manner, “I was against it from the beginning. We have to preserve our national values. One shouldn’t set Eurovision above our self-esteem and dignity. I am outraged by what the Azerbaijanis did to us. They do unpleasant, disgusting, bad things to us, they kill our brothers and we shall not go and sing, now shall we? I think we won’t prove anything by songs. We are not afraid; let them be afraid and ashamed that they talk about us this way, ‘We will clean the stage with floor cleaning liquid after Armenians’ performance.’ There is nothing sacred to them… For me, the most important thing is making the right decision. Even if we know that we will surely win, we should not participate, we should ignore.”
Arsen Grigoryan thinks, “Eurovision is not an issue of life and death. It is clear that we will not participate; all this is just a matter of dignity. The Azerbaijanis are promoted for killing an Armenian youth – we have such facts in hand and we must realize that one shouldn’t go to such a country. We are not against Eurovision, we can participate next year, but not now and not in Baku. When a cunning Azerbaijani hacks and shoots your kin, when innocent blood is shed, shall we forget about it and go to sing?”

In response to a question of journalists whether there were cultural boundaries, Mro said, “Given our sublime history, we should be above Turks and Azerbaijanis, we should make an exception and boundaries in this case. Eurovision is a politicized show, because countries that are neighbors give points to each other, regardless of the performance or show. It is not culture, it is pure show business.”
